Hi guys hope you had a good weekend.
We are back of to London for a new but unpretentious and authentic home cooking!!!!
Restaurant 500 ( Cinquecento for my Italian friends) is a great small and pleasing restaurant to come up in London. Being based in Archway north London , you normally dont find many half decent restaurants around but 500 has put that to rest.
The owners chef Mario Magli and manager Giorgio Pili ( both have worked with Antonio Carluccuio at Neal Street) have sprung a little gem of a restaurant where you feel like" mama has cooked the food" and the ingredients are fresh everyday even the breads to the pasta is made in house only. The name 500 comes from the stylish icon of the Fiat 500 back in 1957 which has just been re launched last year as fashion on wheels!!!!!
The interior is simple but elegant with lovely wooden chairs with simple tables. The menu small but has everything you need from the Prosciutto with peaches to the great soup. The main course you have to try the gnocchi with sausage and tomato sauce, light fluffy pasta with great flavors. The desserts from the ice cream to the sorbets were great choice.
Overall great value for money for authentic home style Italiano cooking. The wine list is perfect for this place and the pricing is good value
A must try !!!!
